About us
The Merriam Story
In February 2011, Orchardville Church purchased the former Merriam Grade School property. The plan was to establish a Branch Church in Fairfield, IL. Renovations began on the building and were completed in May, 2011. Orchardville Church – Fairfield Branch held its first Sunday Worship Service on Mother’s Day of 2011. Orchardville Church Senior Pastor, Mark Shell passed away on March 27, 2015. Per his request, it was determined that the Fairfield Branch would become a church plant and have its own identity. EverFound Church was established as a 501c3 organization and held its first Sunday Worship Service on April 12, 2015. The Leadership of EverFound Church felt that the church needed to re-brand itself in order to better identify who we are and where we are located. In 2017, the Church voted and approved to change the name to “Merriam Community Church.” This beloved school building now reflects the vital role it plays as the spiritual anchor in the community.
What We Believe
We strive to honor and follow the Lord Jesus Christ, helping others find their hope and purpose by following the command of the Great Commission that Jesus gives us in Matthew 28:17-20, by making disciples in all nations.
We believe the Bible is God’s holy word, it is the only authority for what we believe.
We believe in the Trinity, The Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ.
We believe the only way to salvation is through Jesus Christ.
We believe that salvation is a work of God, through Jesus, therefore true believers are secure for eternity.
We believe it’s a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, not any religious denomination that makes you right with God.
We believe it’s every Christian’s duty to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with those around us and throughout the world.
Missions
Service to others is how we serve God. At Merriam Community Church. we strive to demonstrate true humility by seeking, serving and protecting the well being of others. We believe each of us should use whatever gift we have been given to serve others. We support a variety of different organizations through our church tithe. We give 10% of our weekly tithes to help these organizations prosper financially.
